Why report on something like this? It adds nothing and is just prurient fascination. The early comments so far seem to back that up too.
An emergency landing or crash landing is also shocking. These crew members seem unfit and unable to cope. The flight can function without one FA. A senior incoming FA should be tasked to help with the body.
To some who read your post might well conclude that you “derek” …. “Seem unfit and unable to cope” with being a member of the human race.
Show some humanity and definitely more humility.
Most airlines will ask the crewmembers in such a situation if they feel fit to continue their duty. If more feel unable to continue than can legally be absent under minimum staffing requirements, the entire crew will be stood down from duty and the flight cancelled.
The crew likely needed to be interviewed regarding the last days/hours of the deceased life.

It just sucks. I feel for all involved, and I'm not a "feely" guy but it's not about me.
And crews are always pulled from duty after a "crash landing" or "emergency" -
No, a flight cannot work with 1 less FA. The FAA requires 1 per every 50 seats. Also, safety and security are taken seriously. Someone under that type of mental distress would not be fit to fly as they need to be on top of their game in case of an emergency. Do the bare minimum research before making such a crass, insensitive and ignorant comment.
Sudden, unexplained death does happen to young people, and more often than you might think.
I would like them to show as much empathy towards live people they are paid to server. Then we can talk about humanity. What most of them do and the way they behave falls below that category.
It's best to read the article, not just look at it, so that when you comment, you don't sound sexist or dumb.

A quick Google search shows hundreds of outlets reporting this sad incident. Are you going to write them all asking why they’re reporting this story also?

The FAA does not impose flight attendant ratio rules on non-U.S.-registered aircraft. Also, even if they did, most international airlines don't work with an absolute minimum of cabin crew. It's very common for a flights to operate short one flight attendant, due to last minute illness or incapacity.
I personally like hearing about anything and everything aviation related. OMAAT is one place that I get a lot of my aviation news and so I'm happy to hear it all. As far as I'm concerned Ben, please keep writing about anything and everything aviation. The things that don't interest me, I just don't read.
Doctors and nurses have patients die but they don't freeze up and drop work. Same with troops. They get shot and their buddy gets killed, but they don't suddenly surrender. When Flight 1549 hit some geese taking off from LaGuardia, Captain Sully didn't freak out.

And those who consider someone with a different opinion than yours not a member of your same race should perhaps feel some shame. Derek is surely too blunt in his post, but his point in the end is that leaving 400 people on the ground on an Easter holiday weekend because you're upset about a grave event is understandable, but also questionable, when you are entrusted with the safe of 400 anxious people, most home to their loved one
for an annual, eagerly awaited, holiday. A show of endurance could have been the alternative, not so inhumane, answer. Then of course you're free to disagree but don't call Derek a beast
In an investigation into a death like this the police need to interview the crew, so they were probably held back by authorities. As a flight attendant I can assure you that the crew would have preferred to go to work instead of having a colleague and friend pass away like that so far from home.
No Derek. Only if an aircraft is staffed above minimums. That used to be one flight attendant per every fifty seats, not passengers. It could have changed since I retired, but minimum means minimum!
Too bad you are lacking so greatly in empathy.
