I'm underwhelmed by Singapore Airlines' current premium seating, and clearly not the only one, given SQ is bleeding cash lately. Not all that comfortable, either in seat or bed mode. SQ charges a price premium above other 1st tier airlines, but falls short in comparison with regards to certain elements (especially lacklustre lounges for 1st tier airline).
So let's hope the new Suites improve the situation, because SQ has slipped a fair bit from when it was a leader in quality and innovation.
Any word on if they will offer first class suites on their Boeing 777-300 ERs? I believe that is what is used on their flights from Houston to Moscow
I guess it's not surprising given the fact they are decreasing non-Suite F seats on planes with Y+. I'd presume more J and/or Y+ Is what they are going to put in to increase revenue.
I will add that I was also pretty underwhelmed the one time I flew their business class. Not saying it's bad, but I found the SIN lounge to suck in its layout. Very few places to actually do work, few outlets in the general seating area, and it was crowded.
The seat itself is comfortable but for layout out my computer, papers, etc...the ergonomics sucked. There was only one power outlet and it was quite a reach near the LCD screen. I liked Cathay's layout much better.
Finally the food was nothing special. I'd fly it again if necessary, but given their ridiculous fuel surcharges on any good redemption, I'll avoid them if I can.
If you missed it, aside from reducing the number of suites, the suites will be larger.
My guess will be 4 or 8 suites. Leaning towards 8.
Showers on planes are profoundly silly. After the novelty wears off, they're just a waste of resources. Larger seats/suites though, that's a great thing for the lucky ones who get to enjoy them.
SQ will undo Suites and will call the product "First Class" again.
First Class will move to the Upper Deck and will have a couple of things in common with Ethiad.
Expect the number of seats to go down from 12 to 6 to 8.
@Gino Why do you think SQ has 16 suites? It's 4 on each window (+8) and 4 in the middle (+4) = 12.
Perhaps they would remove the first row window seats in Suites, maybe installing two showers.
