For the past several years I’ve been participating in the SPG Amex Stars program, which has taken me to some pretty awesome places. I love the SPG Amex, and it’s one of the cards I’ve had in my wallet for the longest time. It was one of the very first cards I applied for when…

You've been a tennis fan all your life yet call it a "game" instead of a match*.

Come on. SPG starpoints are worth hoarding because they don't get devalued like everyone else's. Thank goodness there aren't any Amex "this month only. Sign up for the card, get 100,000 extra starpoints" promotions.

All the other programs, credit card, hotel and airline. are getting absolutely flooded with points.

I noticed that this year the evening quarter-final matches in the suite were not available for bidding using SPG points. If I recall these Tuesday and Wednesday night sessions were the only ones unavailable for bidding or purchase. Lucky how did you get invited?

Great value! Those seats alone would cost more than $195 each. Was the event a sell out? Is this promoted with the other SPG Experiences? Thanks for the detailed review.

No mention of Marriott buying SPG? SPG is a dying brand and Marriott points are nearly as valuable.

Funny you boasting this card yet again. I just cancelled mine when the annual fee was up ($40 after a $25 credit they gave me). Still not worth it in my book given how much a regular person needs to spend on it in order to accrue enough points for any meaningful redemption.

That's how much I valued this card after the sign up bonus 🙂

Cheers

Found a much better deal with 2-for-1 tickets last year. My wife and I got to watch Federer and Serena, plus other matches on the other courts. I'd save my SPG points and just look for US Open discount codes instead.
