STLHM Suggestion
Its a very nice city, I just spent 3 months there over the summer. They just hosted Stockholm Pride, which is the largest event in "gay" Scandinavian and its not just gay but celebrated throughout the whole city as they want to be know an a "pro-gay" "pro-love" country, and EuroGames, which is the European version of gay or out games held the week after Pride.
Hint:
Some Sunday nights the boat Patricia has an amazing gay party starts at around 7 or 8 and ends kinda early, 12 or 1AM. The boat was very special when it was located at Slussen but they moved it a little farther away so its not as busy as it once was but it is still worth going to. Go at 6 or so for a very nice dinner on board. Even if its not really busy the experience of having a few drinks right across from the city hall is amazing and the Swedish people are very diverse, very well educated and more than willing to engage with outsiders on a very deep and intellectual level. Sure things change in your interactions the more time you spend there, and they have their quarks and rules and particularities but during the summer they are outgoing and engaging. Hope you enjoy the city as much as I have.
Ben, this a recent news, an Easy Jet flight from London Gatwick to a city in turkey had to divert because a flight attendant popped a champagne bottle where the cork hit the roof at the end of the plane where the emergencies masks of some seats dropped. I find it quite hilarious.
I lived in Stockholm for about a year (20 years ago), it’s a wonderful place, clean, safe, food options are really improving. The Sheraton downtown is a nice hotel but you really should hop out of a chain and try a boutique. On a more recent trip we stayed in Gamla Stan, tiny room, great view of the Cathedral and Palace. Memories are built places like that, not necessarily at the Sheraton (not really in a neighborhood, views of the Central Station). Lots of options in Stockholm.
