The PPS Connect service is fantastic, just text your membership number to PPS Connect and they call you back instantly.

This team are extremely competent and will happily work around the 'rules' to help you quickly.

Relevant to this audience, they push waitlaited rewards to yield management who almost always will clear it (at least they do for me).

They can also marry award segments not usually able to be booked together, and little things like that.

Also if anything goes wrong, you actually deal with the PPS coordinator in your market, who sits in the SQ marketing department. So much better than customer service via email on most airlines.

It's the unpublished benefits like this that make PPS membership great.

Seriously, how many people spend enough to qualify: "PPS Club requires 25,000SGD of spend during a membership year", unless you live in Singapore and even then. For this sort of spend the benefits should be much greater. This is almost a Global Services type spend. Must be the top 1% of their flyers approximately.

For long-standing Solitaore PPS members you suddenly have your renewal requirement Doubled from 25000 to 50000 at the stroke of a pen! Disappointing . Very disappointing if have flown with them for almost 30 years and the rules change in this a manner.

@LENNY: The old S$25k requalification rule is grandfathered in for existing solitaire members. Only those who qualify after June 2018 are subject to the new S$50k requirement.

@anon - PPS and Solitaire PPS are both Star Alliance Gold and provide access to those lounges globally. Within Singapore Airlines though, the SilverKris lounges in Singapore you can't access with normal Star Alliance Gold as there is a separate lounge for that.

Singapore Airlines likes to preserver the sanctity of premium cabins and their flagship lounges at Changi are exclusively for those flying First and Business Class or those that are PPS or Solitaire PPS (also helps explain the lack of award availability when booking from a partner airline).

Note that this rule only applies in Singapore to their lounges at Changi though, as other SilverKris lounges are accessible with Star Alliance Gold.

To be totally honest, the benefits of PPS aren't terribly earth shattering nor is it something that someone should spend too much energy on reaching; like nobody should be doing a mileage run to get their PPS status as that would be terribly expensive. If you achieve through the course of your normal travel patterns then great, if not, Krisflyer Elite Gold/Star Gold is perfectly adequate.

The offers for 60,000 , 75,000 and 100,000 should have been extended to all PPS not Solitaire PPS alone. Also those waited for 4 long years to get qualified will suddenly be declared not ready yet as the 50,000 requirement cuts in while you are almost there!!!

Singapore airlines benefits to their elite passengers are very poor compared to gulf carriers, especially Emirates. I am maintaining krisflier gold status for the last 3 years , in fact last year earned more than 100 K miles. Received one operational upgrade in a silk air flight, thats all. Compare this with emirates, even when I was a silver member they upgraded almost all of my short haul flights when seats were available in next cabin. This is cool.

Some members are already on a roll going for the 250.000pts accumulation. And I am one of those member very close to completing. And suddenly the program is changed. I just dont think it is a fair treatment!!!

You may want to know that many who achieved PPS are from the state owned companies in Singapore. SIA is state owned as well. At the home Changi Airport, Star alliance Gold is not allowed to access the SIA Business Class Lounge is a shame, instead, Star alliance gold members have to use an inferior "Gold Lounge" which is poor in all aspect of a good airport lounge.
