Qatar Airways Flying A350 To US For "Historic Announcement"
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how Qatar Airways is hosting a media event in New York on December 9, 2015. Now, Qatar Airways is perhaps the world's least modest airline, but their CEO, Akbar Al Baker, claims this event will: -- "Usher in a historic moment in American aviation" -- Have a…

Guess is the same as last time - 5th freedom route(s) to Europe from the US
Lucky, this is a very novice question, so forgive me:
Could I book BOS-DOH-AMM-TLV (or at least to AMM) with an AA award ticket? Would it still be 67,500 AA?
I can see BOS-DOH availability on BA website but not on AA's site. I presume I need to call AA to book.
Thanks!
Perhaps Qatar will follow Flexjets and place an order for the supersonic Aerion AS2? A probably loss-making, flagship supersonic service would be very Qatar.
If not Qatar I'm waiting to see if any other scheduled airlines go for it - one of the ME3 or Virgin Atlantic seem like the best bets.
If it's just about the A350, then it's not a "Historic Announcement." I was hoping he'll announce a third daily flight out of JFK using their A380 featuring a first class cabin, which would be the only flight to the US featuring their first class cabin.
It would be just amazing that they announce they are buying a US airline and will add decent competition into the US domestic market. That would be like Grinch bringing a Christmas present to Mr. Anderson. LOL!!!!!!
Why is the 2-2-2 forward facing seat on the 777 "a fine business class product" yet you consider BA to be so awful? They share most of the same issues you highlight on BA, specifically lack of privacy, lack of storage and having to climb over people if sat by the window?
@zow
Your routing is within the MPM, however I'm pretty sure QR doesn't publish fares to TLV, and one of the AA routing rules is that the overwater carrier must publish a fare from origin to destination. You could go BOS-DOH-AMM and figure out the rest of the way from there.
i'm with Ben on this one, i think he's buying into Jet Blue or maybe even into AA. I expect increased cooperation between AA & QR. Just got a hunch about it.
"Also keep in mind that Qatar is fantastic about releasing business class award space." Not really. Very few, if any, seats are released for weekend flights. And since they release awards at the 355-day mark, many are gone by the time AAdvantage members can book; not just their own members but BA/IB/CX frequent flyers get their pick and we get what's left.
Regarding the historic announcement, I agree that buying into the US market would be historic. But al-Baker has a history of bombast, he's the Donald Trump of the ME. "It'll be yuuuuge!!"
Hello Lucky,
I am from Seattle, If I want to take advantage of A350, Do I still pay 67,500 American miles from Sea to JFK (by AA) and JFK to Doha by Qatar? I assume I have to call to book, right? Thanks
Hey everyone,
Next April I am travelling on QR from AUH - DOH - BOS. The AUH - DOH part is in F (regional) and the DOH - BOS is in J (Business). Because I am connecting from a Qatar first class flight, does anyone know if I will have access to the Al-Safwa lounge? (When (If) it reopens)
thank you,
Phize
On the subject of Qatar Airways, the report has been published on the QA flights run in with the Miami landing lights; http://dohanews.co/pilot-error-likely-cause-of-damage-to-qatar-airways-plane-in-miami/
least modest ?
Lucky, how about buying a thesaurus with your credit card points?
