It looks like Gulf Air's business is comparable to what Qatar flies on their 77W. Recall that Qatar Airways had primarily remote gates before the new airport. I'd certainly consider Gulf Air, if flights aligned.
Is that a hexagonal scone, and square chocolate Snowball??? The entertainment system looks very similar to that of the Aer Lingus Boeing 757 to me. Thanks for the great blog!
this seems quite decent for biz class... too bad the airline is not doing so well.
For what it's worth, I've flown Qatar PLENTY and seriously don't consider it a 5-star airline. Their business class on the 777 (which is the most common type) is definitely behind (one or two generations) and their service is hit or miss. Plus, until recently Doha airport was a dump. That's changed now, obviously, but only just recently. I have flown their new business class (on the 787) a handful of times and while I like the hard product, it is certainly not better than most "First Class" experiences as His Excellency would have us believe. Worst, in my opinion, is their customer service. They are quite arrogant and difficult to rectify their mistakes. I think they take their cues from their boss, who is convinced that they're the best thing since sliced bread.

@ Darren @ Marcus @ steve -- Hah, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't actually check because there was no wine list! It wasn't amazing but was drinkable.

Well, yes, but remember, Bahrain is actually one of the poorer countries in that region (by a huge margin) and the government can't subsidize growth and expansion the way the Big 3 can.
The airline that is disappointing is Kuwait Airways, since Kuwait as a country is on par with the Emirates and Qatar in terms of national resources, but whatever the reason, hasn't invested in it's airline the way the Big 3 have.
