Don't forget Delta's soon-to-be 49% stake in Aeromexico. Buying Avianca could put Delta within powerhouse reach of AA for Central and South America.

Not for us Skyteam folks! DL's JV with Aeromexico already makes South America travel for west coasters soooo much easier (with connections in MEX rather than ATL)...having Avianca in Skyteam would bring DL closer to competition with AA, creating (hopefully) price wars...Skyteam and Oneworld fight all the time in the Europe market...when was the last time you saw a decent biz fare sale to South America?
Delta bringing Avianca to its portfolio will make the Atlanta based airline stronger in LatAm. Something good for the traveler and corporatw business.
