I can't say I've generally been very impressed by American's food on domestic flights. For that matter, I don't think Delta is any better. I also don't generally put much weight into menus designed by celebrity chefs, since they're basically just being paid a some of money to sell out their name. I'd rather airlines…

I always enjoyed Virgin America’s meals served in F, as they seemed to have a tasty thought out menu. Did a trancon with Alaska Boeing equipment (SFO-JFK) and Alaska seems to have copied that approach. It was breakfast fare and pretty well excecuted; smoothie, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and spiced oatmeal.
When you fly the 772 transcon MIA-LAX I guess you get access to flagship first dining?
What about the one off or temporary domestic routes that get the 787-9 for example? If you're in the highest class do you get flagship first dining? Or do you only get that domestically on the 321T?
While not fancy I really didn’t mind the meatloaf. Of course glad to see the lobster experiment leave.
@ Chris -- You don't, since that's marketed as business class rather than first class. The only domestic flights that get Flagship First Dining are A321T first class between JFK and LAX/SFO.

Looks interesting, but you’re right - it may or may not actually taste good in the air. I do like that a protein can be added to the grains bowl. It makes the “veggie” option more appetizing/appealing.
I personally hate fish, poke or crab on flights. Smells and doesn't taste good.
I can't stand the huge chunk of cheeses, smoked and sometimes they serve blue cheese, peppered, etc. Smelly and a waste of money.
Sorry we have 130K miles so far this year and we've been upgraded several times. We fly back & forth from Georgia to Maui. The food has always been a peeve of mine.
I also hope they get rid of the wraps in steerage.
Since I just had a delightful meal in Flagship Dining, I like the idea of lighter options for the meal I'll be eating on board in just a few hours.
Also want to take the opportunity to say thank you--I'm flying first class JFK to LAX because of your careful coverage of the Iberia Air promotion, and I knew to come early to enjoy the Flagship lounge because you've written about it. It's been an absolutely lovely experience so far!
