American Airlines pilots have just voted to authorize a strike. However, don’t worry, as it’s a near guarantee that a strike won’t actually happen.

"A strike would only (eventually) be permitted if that process fails. Even then it wouldn’t be imminent, as there would first be a 30-day cooling off period before a strike could occur."

Don't worry, even if it moves to the final stage, President Biden (the most pro-union President in history /s) will just push Congress to pass legislation to prohibit it like with the railroad workers.

Then the Democrats will do the old Potomac Two-Step and try to cast blame on the Republicans while the Dem leadership had the power all along.

Leave Biden out of this, at his age he'd probably slept through the whole strike.

$590,000 a year for a captain?

And we wonder why airfares are so high. 🙂

But hey, more power to the pilots if they can get it, and there's no reason to think they won't, considering that it's been offered already.

I’m trying to think of the last actual pilot strike in the US at a major airline — where crews stopped reporting for work. Eastern Airlines in ‘89?

Pretty sure it was American when the pilots voted to strike in 1997, it lasted for a few minutes before President Clinton stepped in.

Matter of time before they become obsolete.

I would love to have a word with Captain Ed Sicher and the APA. Put on a suit and address all 15,000 pilots at American. They are entitled to nothing. I would be doing them a favor. Captains paychecks will start being returned from their banks and American will no longer be accepting new aircraft and begin phasing out major domestic hub networks .

American Airlines is the armpit of the US transportation infrastructure. What an embarrassment to the rest of the world. Alaskan , Jet Blue , Spirit , Fronteir , and others will be able to pick up the slack without American. Their stock will be $6 when I’m finished with them.

Everyone’s contract will be up for renewal soon, from mechanics to ticket counter personnel and flight attendants; there might not be an an AA at the rate we’re going.
