For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings and bonus offers. In many cases the offers can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.

To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. These offers come in different forms, including discounts and even in some cases bonus points.

There’s a new targeted Amex Offer for Amazon, valid through May 31, 2018. With this offer you can get 2,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $50+ with Amazon.

This is easily one of the most lucrative Amex Offers I’ve seen in a long time. I value Membership Rewards points at ~1.7 cents each, so to me that’s like a ~$34 return on $50 of Amazon spend, which is incredible. That’s like two thirds off. Best of all, you can just buy an Amazon gift card, or whatever you’d like, to take advantage of this offer.

As is usually the case with Amex Offers, this one is targeted. This one seems to be more highly targeted than some of the others, but it’s so lucrative that I figure it’s still worth sharing, so everyone can check their own account. None of my accounts were targeted, and none of Ford’s accounts were targeted for it, so then I gave up for a while. Later on I decided to check my parents’ accounts — my mom was targeted for the promotion on two accounts, and my dad was targeted on three accounts, so it’s not that narrowly targeted. Specifically, they both had the offer on The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Blue Business℠ Plus Credit Card from American Express.

For me an Amazon balance is more or less good as cash, so getting a reward that I value at two thirds of face value is incredible. Virtually any purchase with Amazon will qualify for this, including purchasing an Amazon gift card, or even purchasing a third party gift card through Amazon.

For cards not earning Membership Rewards points there’s another version of the offer out there, for a $20 statement credit after spending $50 with Amazon. However, none of the accounts in my household were targeted for that, and I also don’t consider that quite as lucrative, since it’s a ~40% return, rather than a ~67% return (but it’s still very good)

If you are targeted for the promotion, make sure you register as soon as possible, since registration is limited. Once you register you’ll have until May 31 to make a purchase, but if you don’t register now, the offer may disappear from your account.

Where you targeted for this awesome Amazon Amex Offer?

  2. It is really targeted. I got the Amazon and Hyatt offer. I wonder what goes in the selection process.

  3. I got those in 2017. Nothing now.

IMPORTANT: you may have this offer on multiple cards. open multiple browser tabs and accept the offers simultaneously. otherwise, offers on other cards may disappear after the first acceptance

  4. Offer terms say that corporate gift cards and customer-designed gift cards are not counted as eligible purchase
