In recent years, we’ve seen Singapore Airlines renovate all of its lounges at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) Terminal 3, which is the carrier’s primary terminal. However, the airline also operates out of Terminal 2, and as things currently stand, the lounge situation there is pretty underwhelming. So there’s an exciting update, as the airline is fully overhauling its Terminal 2 lounges.
In this post:
Singapore Airlines Terminal 2 lounges being overhauled
Singapore Airlines has announced that it will transform its SilverKris and KrisFlyer Gold lounges at Changi Airport Terminal 2 over the next two years, as part of a $45 million SGD ($34 million USD) investment.
Renovations will begin as of April 15, 2025, and will be complete around the middle of 2027. The renovations will happen in phases, to minimize customer inconvenience:
- Construction on the new SilverKris First Class Lounge will begin as of April 15, 2025, with expected completion in the fourth quarter of 2025
- Construction on the new SilverKris Business Lounge will begin in the fourth quarter of 2025
- Construction on the new SilverKris Gold Lounge will begin in the first half of 2026

Perhaps the most exciting development is that lounge capacity will be increased by roughly 50%. On top of that, lounges will feature upgraded facilities, signature elements from the carrier’s Terminal 3 lounges, and an improved variety of food and drinks.
Here’s how Yeoh Phee Teik, Singapore Airlines’ SVP of Customer Experience, describes these changes:
“This significant investment underscores Singapore Airlines’ unwavering commitment to elevating the end-to-end travel experience for our customers. Building on the success of our Terminal 3 lounges, we are extending our signature hospitality and thoughtfully curated offerings to Terminal 2. This upgrade reaffirms our continued dedication to providing a seamless, world-class experience that meets the high expectations of our discerning customers.”
What to expect from new Singapore Airlines Terminal 2 lounges
So, what can we expect from the three new lounges? The new SilverKris First Lounge will feature a spacious area with increased capacity, higher ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The renovated bar will also offer more drink options, including barista service in the morning. Furthermore, the lounge will have a live cooking station, with a variety of Singaporean, Asian, and Western choices, on top of a self-serve buffet, mirroring what’s available in Terminal 3.

The new SilverKris Business Lounge will be expanded by 30%. It will include a quiet rest area with recliners, and a redesigned living room area with diverse seating options, including wingback chairs, sofa seats, and productivity pods. The expanded self-service buffet will feature Asian and Western options, including a new full-service bar, serving barista coffee in the morning, and signature cocktails in the evening.

The new SilverKris Gold Lounge will doulbe in size. It will offer various seating options, such as armrests for lounging, workstations, and dining seats. New amenities will include in-lounge restrooms and shower suites.

If you want a sense of the general vibe the airline is going for, check out my reviews of the renovated Terminal 3 lounges, including the SilverKris First Lounge and SilverKris Business Lounge (I’ve also reviewed the Singapore Airlines Private Room, but there’s no equivalent to that in Terminal 2).
Bottom line
Singapore Airlines is investing in its lounges at Changi Airport Terminal 2, as the lounges will be progressively renovated and expanded through mid-2027. The updates will follow the same blueprint as you’ll find in the carrier’s Terminal 3 lounges, which have also been updated in recent years. I’m really happy to see these changes, and look forward to seeing the finished product.
What do you make of Singapore Airlines’ Terminal 2 lounge updates?
I think that virtually everything to do with SQ is horribly overrated. It's been a while since I last flew with them, but this definitely applies to their lounges.
I will never forget the hostile attendant at LHR refusing my request to print a copy of my PCR COVID test and lecturing me about it being a Singapore Airlines lounge and the need to get my airline (which didn't have a lounge there) to...

I will never forget the hostile attendant at LHR refusing my request to print a copy of my PCR COVID test and lecturing me about it being a Singapore Airlines lounge and the need to get my airline (which didn't have a lounge there) to print it- amazing way of treating top-tier frequent flyers on a business class ticket with your alliance partners. My latest experience at SIN was only marginally better than that- the receptionists were still unable to help with ringing the gate to obtain information on a potential delay on my flight with another *A carrier, but at least didn't feel the need to resort to verbal abuse.
According to the Star Alliance website, the list of facilities in both the SQ First and Business LHR lounge does not include 'Printing'.
When they say no, it's a no. What if your document contains malware or viruses?
I wonder what SQs plans are when terminal 5 opens around the next decade. Do they plan to stay put in terminals 2&3, or they plan to relocate their operations partially or completely? As lounge renovations take place often around the 10 year mark give or take, who knows what they have in store, maybe something more posh?
The best things about the existing T3 KrisGold lounge are the food, the lovely staff, and the excellent shower suites. The worst thing about it is that it simply isn't big enough. It's always way too crowded. Hopefully expanding the T2 lounge alleviates that a little, although I doubt it will have much of an effect as people tend to go to the lounge in the terminal their flight is departing from.
I just recently flew First out of SIN T2, and opted to use The Private Room in T3 instead of lounges in T2. I didn't have much time, but that was fine because there's not much to do in The Private Room which made me glad that I was in and out. It was also very cool to take the plane train thru the Jewel and see the waterfall.

My wishlist for T2 lounges based on this experience:
1. A view!! There's nothing better than sipping champagne while watching planes take off
2. More amenities. Singapore Airlines in-flight is world-class, but other than some beautifully designed spaces with good food, their lounges are kind of boring.
3. Nicer wine list for the First lounge. I forget what champagne they had on offer in T3, but it wasn't particularly amazing.
4. Some lounge music. The lounge was so quiet and it felt awkward.
Just keep the wagyu sliders in the first class lounge please. They are so good!
There was nothing wrong with the old single story bungalow containing the NAAFI, or was it the SSAFA tea bar?

SQ lounges in Changi T3 are ok but not exceptional. There is a bad cooking smell all around T3 Business lounge. The lounge is grossly overcrowded in the evening. The food offering is very average. The cocktail bar does not serve cocktails. Any AF lounge in CDG, CX lounge in HKG or NZ lounge in AKL does a much better job.
The 3 SQ lounges in T2 are outdated, with poor availability of power points and in urgent need of upgrading.
First time I walked into the GoldKris Lounge in T2 I felt like in a ghost house. It was around midnight, almost no food and cheap drinks, no toilets inside. Granted, the T3 GoldKris lounge had a better atmosphere and shower facilities, but that was also one of the worst hub lounges I’ve been to.
SQ‘s economy experience left me unsatisfied in general. I walked in with high expectations but the crew came over...

SQ‘s economy experience left me unsatisfied in general. I walked in with high expectations but the crew came over as feeling annoyed and a little ignorant. One round of drinks on the 5h SIN-PER daytime flight is just plain lazy. But they did a great job looking busy. I‘d rather take United’s Eco service lol.
How ironic that the best lounges at Changi belong to Oneworld airlines — specifically the QF First and QR Premium lounges — when this is not only the world’s best airport but also the home base for SQ, in many ways the best airline in Star Alliance.
It’s hard to find a major hub airport in Asia where the Star lounges are better than the OW lounges, except perhaps BKK (are the TG Royal Orchid lounges better than CX and QR’s lounges?).
Should’ve clarified above that yes, the SilverKris lounges in T3 are excellent, but the QR/QF lounges just have that extra edge. Indeed, the SilverKris lounges are nowhere near displacing the CX Pier or Delta One lounges, much less La Premiere, in the list of the world’s best airline-operated lounges.
Having just visited the T3 The Private Room, I thought it was a physically beautiful space (despite a lack of views), but I agree that other than good food there isn't much in the way of amenities or things to do there making it not a particularly memorable F lounge.
