New Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (Former Novotel)

2025 is shaping up to be a good year for Hyatt’s airport hotel footprint in Asia! Recently, the Novotel Taipei Taoyuan Airport became a Hyatt Regency. Now the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is becoming a Hyatt Regency as well, as flagged by LoyaltyLobby.

Novotel Bangkok Airport becomes Hyatt Regency

The 612-room Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) will open as of February 1, 2025. This simply represents a rebranding of the existing Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, which has been operating since 2006.

The hotel is not yet accepting reservations as a Hyatt, though I’ll be sure to provide an update once it is. If you’ve already booked a stay for February 1 and beyond, don’t expect that any Accor Live Limitless perks will be honored. However, it should be possible to take advantage of World of Hyatt perks, or to add your loyalty number to the reservation.

It’s interesting to see just how many Accor properties in Asia have rebranded in recent times. I wonder if it’s just that the brand doesn’t have a strong enough customer base in the region, if the fees are too high, or what.

This property is incredibly convenient, as it’s the only major hotel that’s directly on the property of the airport, so that you can walk there from the terminal. However, it’s definitely not the most luxurious airport hotel, and I’d say it’s quite a bit below the typical Hyatt Regency standard. So manage your expectations, as I’m hoping there’s a renovation coming. I reviewed this hotel a long time back, back in 2013.

I’m excited about this Bangkok Airport hotel rebranding!

I pass through Bangkok Airport quite often. Many times it’s for an awkwardly timed layover, where there’s not enough time to go into the city, but too much time to comfortably stay at the airport.

For situations where you have a long layover, it’s handy to have access to a good airport hotel, especially when getting into the city can be a bit of a trek. Along those lines, it’s also useful when an airport hotel is associated with a loyalty program you have status with. As a World of Hyatt Globalist member, Hyatt is my favorite major hotel group with a points program, so I’m happy about this.

So whether it’s earning or redeeming points, or taking advantage of elite perks, I’ll definitely be more excited about staying at this property in the future.

I have to give Hyatt credit big picture for having some really great airport hotels around the globe, ranging from the Grand Hyatt San Francisco Airport (SFO), to the Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport (ZRH). Don’t expect this property to be on the same level in terms of quality, but I’m still excited to see it!

Bottom line

The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport will open as of February 1, 2025, as a rebranding of the existing Novotel. The 612-room property is the most convenient hotel at the airport, so I’m happy to see it joining the Hyatt portfolio.

It’s interesting to see how this is the second airport Novotel in Asia being rebranded as a Hyatt Regency in a matter of months. I’m curious which airport Novotel is rebranded as a Hyatt Regency next, heh.

What do you make of the Novotel BKK being rebranded as a Hyatt Regency?

My problem with Accor is the points earned don't last a long time. They expire. Since they're hardly in the U.S., I don't get to stay at their properties often enough for points to accumulate. My IHG points last forever and I think Hilton and Marriott last 24 months with any activity moving the timer.

Been open a year and I’ve had several stays but has become a lot more expensive recently. Unless you have a v early flight there is no need to be at the airport as city hotels are much cheaper and only 45 mins away max. I just stayed at the rebranded Hyatt at Taipei airport and it was a terrible experience. Felt like I was home alone in a city office block. Rooms are big but v basic lacking any amenities, lot of construction happening so guess will be improved soon enough. Staff at reception v surly & nothing much in way of dining outlets. Guess it’s all to come.

I've got a 1-night stay in March. Will definitely rebook with Hyatt once available.

Dunno if the other comments reflect the same hotel.

Quiet, clean, well furnished, good restaurant… nice pool area. Incredibly convenient location. Great staff.

Accor or Hyatt: It is a higher end Thai hotel. You will be well taken care of.

The best perk of this Novotel was the 24 hour stay, meaning you got 24 hours from the time you checked in.... It will be interesting to see if Hyatt continues this.... Ive stayed at other airport in terminal Hyatts and they do not have this great feature

But there are a lot of hotels leaving Accor. We just stayed at the “MGallery Royal Hoi An” in Vietnam and it rebranded on 1/1/25 to The Royal Hoi An - Gallery without any notice. Such terrible customer service when this happens and they expect you to just suck it up.

I’m now fighting them for points, despite them telling me on checkin that I’d still get points.

What Hyatt Award Category will it be?

Accor is also losing a TPE airport property to Hyatt. Glad to see Hyatt yo its Asian airport game.

For BKK, my primary airport hotel there has been the Courtyard Marriott BKK over the last 12 months.

It looks great to see Novotel gets removed and getting replaced by Hyatt Regency in Bangkok. When it's done its like you are traveling first class or business class.

The Courtyard *near* the airport (with an easy, free shuttle) is very nice and way above the average U.S. Courtyard. I'd stay at the Courtyard again even if it's slightly less convenient than this hotel.

    1. GUWonder Guest

Yes, it’s my primary BKK airport hotel in 2024 and still. Just note its shuttle bus only runs once an hour, on the :30 from the airport and on the :00 from the hotel. But a Grab — Asian equivalent of Uber — is cheap and good if for some reason you don’t want to wait for the shuttle bus schedule to work out.

[This blog is voraciously devouring my comments. Third attempt at posting this!] Try the Silver Palm at Hua Mak, it's much better than an airport hotel, likely cheaper too, and barely 15 mins by Bolt/Grab or a couple of train stops away from the airport.

I have always considered Novotel more like a Holiday Inn Express ot Delta, not a Hyatt Regency.

    1. Throwawayname Guest

Novotel is positioned right between the brands that you've mentioned - it's a full-service business hotel which is squarely aimed at the road warriors and small business owners rather than diplomats and 'captains of industry'.

They really do branding well to fool people

  12. Never In Doubt Guest

We have three separate nights there this March/April for long connections/ early flights, that I'll look to cancel and rebook with Hyatt.

Let's hope Hyatt will start out with some special rates!

    1. GUWonder Guest

The hotel is reflagging to get higher rates. Expect higher prices as a Hyatt.

    2. Never In Doubt Guest

If that happens, it’s good I got in at the lower price!

Rebranding, a strategy also known as pass the trash.

Accor doesn’t understand what Asia wants out of loyalty. Period.

    1. Throwawayname Guest

They're opening a lot of new properties there though.

This is funny. I almost booked the hotel for the end of February, but spending almost $200 for a Novotel kind of bothered me so I booked an additional night in Bangkok. If they actually rebrand by February, I'll definitely stay there!

I have stayed at this hotel in the past because I had a connecting flight the very next day in the early morning. It is, at best, a $50/night room and nowhere worth what the going rate was/is.
