This sure isn’t the kind of wake-up call you want when staying at a hotel…
Hilton manager breaks into guest’s room, sucks toes
This incident reportedly happened at around 5AM on March 30, 2023, at the Hilton Nashville Downtown. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, a Hilton hotel guest was woken up by the night manager sucking on his toes. Yes, this happened while he was in his bed, without having invited said night manager into the room.
The 52-year-old hotel employee has been arrested, and has been charged with aggravated burglary and assault.
According to the police, the night manager created a key card to set foot in the guest’s room. After waking up, the guest realized that the hotel employee had entered his room the day before to help solve a TV issue.
The hotel employee claims that he only entered the guest’s room because of the smell of smoke. Never mind the fact that he didn’t knock, and that he somehow ended up with the guest’s toes in his mouth…
There are a couple of important lessons here
There are a couple of things that can be learned from this situation.
First and foremost, you should always lock your hotel room door when you’re in the room, especially when you’re asleep. While most hotels have good security, the reality is that there are a lot of employees with master keys (or with the ability to easily create key cards), and you never know what they could do… like sucking on your toes.
Second of all, based on everything I’ve heard (from both hotel employees and guests), there’s a surprising amount of “action” happening while people are on the clock at hotels. Now, a vast majority of the time it’s presumably consensual, and it may very well start with an employee coming to a guest’s room to help with something.
The problem is that not everyone may feel the same way, or pick up the same signals. Given this story, I can’t help but wonder if the night manager maybe believed that the guest was interested based on the interaction the previous day. I assume the guest probably wasn’t (and if the guest was, I’d assume his preference wouldn’t be to have his room broken into), but it gets at how some people aren’t very good with boundaries, or perhaps just have very wishful thinking.
If you are going to flirt with hotel employees, just keep in mind they might not have the same boundaries you do, and they also potentially have access to your room. Conversely, if hotel employees are going to flirt with guests, keep in mind that you can’t just leave the hotel, and you never know if the guest might become stalker-ish.
Bottom line
A night manager at a Hilton in Nashville has been arrested for breaking into a guest’s room and sucking his toes. The night manager claimed to have gone to the room due to the smell of smoke, though that doesn’t really explain what happened. The same employee had apparently been in the room the night before due to TV issues, so I’m not sure if the wrong signal was just being picked up, or what…
