Donald Trump Takes Credit For 2017 Being Safest Year For Aviation

51

Yesterday I wrote about how 2017 was the safest year on record for aviation globally. In 2017 airlines had zero accident deaths on commercial passenger jets. This excludes props, and excludes cargo jets, so when you factor those in, there were a total of 10 fatal airliner accidents, resulting in 79 deaths.

While any tragedy is sad, that’s incredible when you consider how many hundreds of millions of people fly every year. An airplane is just about the safest place you can be. This is also an improvement over previous years, because as recently as 2005 there were 1,015 commercial passenger deaths worldwide (which is still quite good, when you consider how many people fly).

So, what made 2017 such a safe year for aviation around the world (yes, we’re talking everywhere in the world)? Per President Trump’s Tweet:

“Since taking office I have been very strict on Commercial Aviation. Good news – it was just reported that there were Zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record.”

For one, there weren’t zero deaths in commercial aviation. There were zero passenger jet deaths, but that’s not the entire equation.

But if we can forget that for a second, I think we should all give a big round of applause for all that President Trump has done to keep global aviation safe. I certainly felt him looking over me on my Uzbekistan Airways flight from Tashkent to Dushanbe a few months ago.

(Tip of the hat to @zuurb)

Funny how Trump supporters always claim Trump is somehow playing 7-D chess. Quite frankly it is funny that is all they can say when he does dumb clownish things. And how far will the rationalizing of his behavior go? That is what really worries me. Still, deep down I suspect many of his supports know he is just a narcissistic sociopathic clown, with a complex over his terribly small fingers. No chess going on in...

Lots of people don't get Trump at all. Perhaps I should say lots of people refuse to give him any genuine consideration at all.

Yes, DJT constantly trolls the Left Wing Dems, and the MSM (but I repeat myself). While heads are exploding over a purposely exaggerated twitter post, he is quietly getting rid of pernicious regulations, appointing Constitutionalist Judges, and fulfilling campaign promises. Like moving the Israeli embassy to Jerusalem, (something that Clinton, Bush, and even Obama promised while campaigning, then failed to follow up on). The extreme Left is screaming "destroying any possible peace plan", while ignoring that this has been the official US Government policy for decades.

As even the Left leaning Wikipedia reports:

"The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 is a public law of the United States passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. The proposed law was adopted by the Senate (93–5), and the House (374–37). The Act became law without a presidential signature on November 8, 1995.

The Act recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and called for Jerusalem to remain an undivided city. Its purpose was to set aside funds for the relocation of the Embassy of the United States in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, by May 31, 1999. For this purpose it withheld 50% of the funds appropriated to the State Department specifically for "Acquisition and Maintenance of Buildings Abroad" as allocated in fiscal year 1999 until the United States Embassy in Jerusalem had officially opened."

As recently as May 2017, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) issued a statement indicating his support:

"I am proud to sponsor this resolution, (SR 176) which reaffirms the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 that states Jerusalem should remain an undivided city and Israel’s capital..."

Again, when campaigning, both Clinton and Obama promised to lower the Corporate Income Tax rate to International levels, but never followed thru on their promise. But Trump accomplished that in his first year, despite not getting a single Dem vote. Continuing an agenda that JFK, Reagan, and Clinton all enacted in the past with strong bipartisan support. Every time this was done, the US economy exploded upward, and the deficit tanked.

The MSM mischaracterizes the individual portion of the tax bill as "a give away to the rich", (sic). When in fact 90% of all tax payers will get a tax break. And less than 5 % will pay more, almost all of whom are multi-Millionaires/Bilionaires in high tax states. Pointedly, the upper 1% of US taxpayers, who pay more taxes than the lower 90% combined, will get less than a 2% cut. Something Pelosi called "Armageddon" and Sanders called the "one of the greatest robberies in US history". You just can't make this over the top hysteria up. Still, if people would rather concentrate on Trump tweeting on air safety, than all these lies about the new tax bill, that's fine with him.

(Source: google "The Top 1 Percent Pays More in Taxes than the Bottom 90 Percent") where you will find this:

"In 1980, the bottom 90 percent of taxpayers paid 50.72 percent of income taxes. In 2011 (the most recent year the data is available), the bottom 90 percent paid 31.74 percent of taxes. On the flip side, the top 1 percent paid 19.05 percent of taxes in 1980 and now pay 35.06 percent of taxes. "

Since the MSM will never honestly report facts like that, Trump would much prefer the MSM, including CNN (aka the Clinton New Network), talk about his twitter posts, which are very consciously constructed troll events, rather than mischaracterizing all of the very significant things he is quietly accomplishing.

Especially since he knows the Mainly Misleading Media will not tout his major accomplishments: lowest minority unemployment rate in 17 years for instance. Along with the greatest one year increase in the Dow ever. Which the MSM will call just a benefit for the rich, ignoring all of the 401K, and Union and company pension funds, that are invested in stocks.

Yes, Trump is purposely and consciously trolling the Left Wing Media with his hysterically funny Twitter posts. "Look, a squirrel",... :)

Then he goes back to work fulfilling an agenda that JFK would have been proud to have as his legacy. The base of the Dem party has moved so Far Left, that policies that JFK, Hubert Humphrey, and AFL-CIO Union head George Meany took for granted are now slurred as Alt-Right (sic). So yeah, let MSNBC spend hours covering his tweets, and where the "white trucks" are parked, blocking their cameras when he is golfing in Fla. While ignoring his very real and major accomplishments. Trump is quietly getting so much done, while the MSM screams about irrelevant matters.

It's all part of his masterful plan. ;)
