If I have a United Mileage Plus card from Chase with a large credit line, and I get a CSP card(new so I get the bonus), could I eventually transfer my credit line to the CSP card because I understand that it is a much better card and would like to transition to it, but I don’t wan to give up the credit line.

If I have a United mileage plus credit card with a large credit line, and I sign up for a new Chase Saphire Prefered card, could I eventually transfer the credit line to the new card? I know the Saphire is a much better card, but the credit line in the mileage plus card is not something I want to give up.

    Hello Newtothis.

Have you tried simply calling Chase and asking if it would be possible to move the credit line if you get a new card?

Newtothis the Doctor of Credit blog has a good series of resources about the intricacies of different card issuers. Per this http://www.doctorofcredit.com/18-things-everybody-should-know-about-chase/ credit reallocation below $35,000 should be easy without a hard pull. I find this easiest to do on a reconsideration call where the reps seem to have greater leeway to make changes. If you get automatically approved you can call in and request the reallocation.
