Xiamen Air vs Hainan
Hi All,
New member here….
I am contemplating between two Chinese airlines business class right now. Looking to fly from North America to SEA (SIN or CGK).
Found reasonable business class price for LAX-TAO-XMN-SIN round trip for $2400 on Xiamen air.
Also found LAX to CSX round trip on Hainan for $2700…But CSX to SIN i will need to find my own way.
I am close to having silver status with Delta, so not sure if flying with xiamen will add any benefit or not. I am also planning to fly Garuda also to Oz in biz while I am in Indonesia. Considering that, will there be more benefit flying xiamen?
LAX TAO XMN route will be operated on 789 which I believe (all of their 789) have reverse herringbone seats. Whereas Hainan new biz seats are hit and miss.
Any PJs on Xiamen flight? Is it hit and miss? Also, seems like food and amenity kit is not as memorable as Hainan… Any comment on alcohol and entertainment? Any differentiation between xiamen and Hainan?
Check out Lucky’s reviews of both by going to the Trip Reports tab. I cant imagine service would have changed that much.
For business class on Xiamen, you’d earn 100% of flown miles as both redeemable and MQMs, with 20% of the flight distance counting towards MQDs. Not terrible, especially when you consider Delta’s rollover MQMs

Hainan isnt a bad choice either, especially if you want/have status with Alaska
