    Hi Ben/OMAAT

    I have an upcoming trip which I would greatly appreciate if you could provide some advice on.

    I am an Australian national, and live in the UK with my British wife. We are flying back to Oz with Qatar airways this coming Christmas to spend it with my family.

    My wife will be 30-33 weeks pregnant at the time, and so we have splashed out, and put her in Business class to make the trip more comfortable for her. I however am still stuck in cattle class. Fortunately we got an amazing rate for a return business class fair between London & Adelaide as Qatar have only just opened up this new route and are offering promotional fares (approx. £2500 return). But unfortunately still couldn’t afford it for the two of us.

    I was wondering if you might have any useful tips on how I could get myself upgraded to join my wife in business class – as I also know that a lot of airlines nowadays have made it their policy not to give free upgrades to economy class passengers.

    I appreciate your time and would greatly appreciate any advice you might have.

    Hi Gaurav, Thanks for your reply!

    Unfortunately as this route has only just opened up, we haven’t flown Qatar for quite some time. And I therefore sadly don’t have any QR miles of any significance/value.

    I don’t think the redemption value would have been great but it might have been your best bet. At this point your only option might be to get to the airport early and see if they have an buy up offers available.
