Qantas 747 Business Class

Qantas 747 Business Class

A friend and I are flying SFO-SYD in business class on a Qantas 747 with this layout:

When I look at the seat map on qantas.com I’m not eligible to select all seats, perhaps because I booked with partner miles. They’ve got us seated in the two center seats on row 3 in the front section of the plane. We can also select the last row of seats upstairs.

Any thoughts as to which is better? It’s cool to fly in the true pointy-end of the plane, we each have aisle access and we’re in the mini-cabin, which should be quieter. However the larger J cabin is right behind us and the bathrooms are behind that. While there are two of them we’re sharing two bathrooms among the two J cabins and unless the FAs block the way, the folks in PE can use them too.

Upstairs it’s a window and an aisle and we’re right in front of the galley. But there are only 14 seats upstairs though there’s only one bathroom.

    Love to hear other opinions!

My two cents: the nose is cool, the bump is cooler. On QF, apart from row 1 the bump is where the Platinum FF seats are reserved. The FAs up top may be a bit more attuned to this and you might get better service as a result.

I’ve flown PE on two different versions of the 747 (not sure if its the one you’re on) and the cabin had its own toilet each time (at the front of the cabin).

    Enjoy your flight to ‘straya!
