JAL first vs. business
I’m currently planning out my honeymoon to Japan in June 2018. The fiance and I are planning on using AA miles to fly JAL, either in first or business. We each have about 93,000 miles (Citi and Barclays AA bonuses) and are looking to purchase additional miles needed. I’d like to book as close to 330 days out as possible to ensure we get seats.
With the current AA bonus, for round-class business class tickets, we’re looking at $594 per person out of pocket. For round-class first class tickets, we’re looking at $1380 per person out of pocket. Is it worth the extra ~$800 per person to fly first vs. business?
Note that we don’t have basically ANY experience flying in premium cabins, save for Delta for me and United for him from the west coast to Australia, so a foreign carrier in any front cabin will I’m sure be a thrill 🙂
We’ve also both got approved for our Hyatt cards so are looking at spending those in Japan as well, any thoughts on best places to use those in (I’m thinking our first 3-4 nights in Tokyo at the Park Hyatt, but is the Andaz better? Should we save for Regency Kyoto?) would be awesome.
Any thoughts appreciated!
