Delayed luggage compensation
Hi,
On a connecting flight via Turkish Airlines my bag was delayed in arriving at my final destination (returning home). It arrived on the next flight and was delivered to my house 2 days later.
I was wondering if I am entitled to any compensation for the sole fact that the bag was delayed, even though I don’t have receipts for spending caused by the delay.
Also, does anyone here have experience with Turkish Airlines on that matter, in terms of the sum they received for the delay, the procedure, how long it took, etc.
Thanks
You can reach out to TK to see what they can offer but I’m not sure you’ll get much. If you paid with a credit card, that may include travel protections for certain situations such as this – but they do require receipts for reimbursement and there are limits.

My luggage was delayed for 5 days by LOT.
Wha is the compensation which they should pay?
Thanks!

I doubt LOT will do much by now but you can contact them and see what they’ll offer. Your best bet is to see if the credit card you used to purchase the tickets include any kind of delayed luggage compensation .
Same recommendation with TK above – call LOT and see if they offer anything, though I doubt they’ll be very generous, if they offer anything at all. Best is to call the credit card you paid with to see if you have any delayed bag compensation and start a claim if you do.
British Airways ended up paying for the ‘necessities’ during the 5 or 6 days my luggage was delayed. Included toiletries, clothes, shoes, and even a brand new luggage after mine was returned damaged after the delay. Had to present itemized receipts that showed the dates the things were purchased were within the period of the luggage delay & then file it with the file number online. It was a very slow process & took multiple follow ups. There was some EU compensation rule they mentioned that they followed. Hope that helps.
LOT policies are listed here: http://www.lot.com/us/en/problems-with-baggage but seem capped at $100 for five days which seems abominably low if you are flying somewhere for a business meeting.
TK policies are listed here: http://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/travel-information/baggage/baggage-delays and do not seem to include a cap. In these cases it’s best to be reasonable and get receipts and buy only things that you specifically need.
In addition to the cash you might request miles or something for the inconvenience which I am guessing would be handled on a case by case basis.
