Baggage Fees on Combined Itineraries

Baggage Fees on Combined Itineraries

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Ben,

I have a question about checked baggage fees. I have a AA business class award from LHR – MIA, connecting to a paid flight from MIA – SJO in economy. There are checked bag fees for the MIA – SJO leg, although it is my understanding that since both legs are AA it may be possible to check the bags through.

Any tips on whether I can avoid baggage fees in this instance?

Also: To post my question I had to fill out a captcha which had an American Express logo and the captcha word was ‘membership rewards.’ That’s some A+ synergy there, mate :P!

Hah, quite proud of the CAPTCHA system we have here, hah. 😉

I believe you should be able to tag your bags all the way through and not pay bag fees for the second segment. While you’ll have to pick the bags up in Miami, they should be tagged already, so you’ll just have to put them back on the belt after customs & immigration.

    Enjoy the trip!
