American Airlines 777-200 retrofit

American Airlines 777-200 retrofit

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hello, I am about to book a flight from DFW to Seoul ICN. American shows the operated aircraft is a 777 with economy, business and first. Could anyone say the progress that American Airlines might have on the refurbish of the old 777´s…in case I might be luck in getting a new cabin as older one and its lay flat seats are bad. I will fly in October 2016, still some time away,. thanks

I think the upgrade project is at a standstill given the seat sourcing issues for AA so I certainly wouldn’t count on having the new seats 🙁

In January 2016 I got tickets from DFW to ICN first class September 17th, 2016 for my wife and myself using miles on a 777-200 V1. In April I noticed our seating assignment had been changed. I called American Airlines to inquire what happened. The girl there checked and found out that on September 15th the plane was changing to a 777-200 V2 and changed my seats for us. Whether it changes again is to be seen. Hope this helps.

According to Seatguru, AA’s 772 – V2 doesnt have an F cabin so were you refunded the miles?

I had a friend who was able to book JFK-BCN AA F while at the time the aircraft for the flight didnt have an F cabin. She booked it anyway, called AA and they did nothing and told her to pay the extra miles because there was no saver J space. A few weeks ago AA proactively reached out to her, told her that shes ticketed in F but the flight doesnt have an F cabin so they rebooked her in J, at the old J rates. She had to fly on those dates so I told her to keep the F booking they AA was giving her trouble. Worked out in the end though!

Since AA changed our plane they refunded the difference in miles from the old First class mileage rate to the old business rate. Worked out fine.
