48hrs from Paris to EWR
Recently I was flying with my 6 month pregnant wife and 2.5 old son from Paris to EWR, I’m a gold United member.
Just before to get in the flight, we got 3 of us upgraded in business, nice !
We took off from Paris on time on Sunday August 7th @ 9.45 am, and after 3 hours flight we have been diverted to Manchester UK for technical issue, it was an other 2 hours flight back = total 5 hrs. Arriving in Manchester the ground united team, told us we will stay in Manchester for 24 hrs because they do not have a solution. They flew an engineer from Heathrow to find the issue. People started to complain about why they did not returned to Paris or London where solutions would have been easier for us to fly back home in New York.
On the monday august 8th, we keep our upgarde and we were supposed to leave Manchester @ 1pm (it was due to resting time for the same crew) and finally we left with 2 hrs delayed, because the catering supplier did a mistake and did not supply enough food for a 777 flight. Worst, they find out that after we left the gate so we had to come back to the gate for them to refill in food.
The worst for me is the compensation they tried to offer us, 200 $ of E United voucher for my wife and son and 300$ or 15,000 miles for me, knowing we paid our ticket almost $4000 for the family and we lost 2 working days.
What would you recommend me to ask in term of compensations. I did already fill the online customer care complains, and I rejected the offer they made me for the E voucher.
