CX suspending IAD route
Received an email overnight that CX is suspending the HKG-IAD route due to the virus. So my flight next month no longer exists. They say they are working to rebook me but my guess is that whatever they come up with will not be acceptable to my schedule so I will be getting a refund a choosing another airline.
Hopefully, you will get a refund. I have a flight mid-April from IAD to AKL. I hope the flight is canceled as I don’t want to go through H.K. with Cathay Pacific no matter what!
I was on hold for over an hour with them yesterday but finally got through and was able to cancel. They offered to route me through LAX with an overnight there (I presume on my own dime), but I told them to just forget it. They told me it will take 1-2 weeks to process the refund. In the end I booked CMB-DOH-IAD on Sri Lankan and QR which is probably better anyway even though I have to stay overnight at DOH. I believe the current suspension is through March 28. I’ve seen some speculate that the IAD route was performing poorly so they might take the opportunity to axe it altogether.
