New York hotel cheap?

New York hotel cheap?

  1. TamasBUD New Member

    Hi there,

I will have a trip to NYC with my significant other in early may. I was wondering where can i find good hotel deals in nyc? i have been checking the hotel prices and they seems crazy :/ i am coming from a country where there are no credit card deals / sign up bonuses etc. So booking with points at one of the chains is not an option for me unless I buy points with cash but I do not know if this is something I should consider.

We have a budget of 100-150$/night and would be nice if we can reach time square within 30min by public transport.

    Any suggestion/recommendation is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Szia Tamás!

You are right, hotels can be very expensive in the Big Apple. To find the cheapest option anywhere I travel, I always check Booking.com. They display a vast number of available properties wherever you want to travel. I have just run a quick check and it shows that you can get rooms for well under $100 ($66 and $71) – ok, not a Ritz Carlton, but when the budget is limited, it should work. Please see the attached screenshot of what I found for a particular day in May. It is also good to know that hotels in the New Jersey side are significantly cheaper than in NYC. With Booking.com, most of the time you do NOT pay in advance, you just guarantee the reservation with a credit card. Often you can cancel it without any problem even up to 24 hours prior to arrival.

    Szia:)

Thank you for the answer. I know booking.com (I even have genius bonus and made 10+ bookings there) and the rates there but I find a little risky to stay at a hotel under user rating 8.0. Its based on my own experience. That is why I am looking for something better. 🙂 like 300 usd hotel for a half:) I know sounds impossible but there were several deals in the past and I am sure there are more out there but I do not know where to find I know flyertalk hotel mistake deals thread, but it’s kind of dead, except promo codes thread. thank you

Fair enough :). How about these 2 hotels then? One is $121 and the other is $143? Both are above 8.0 rating.
