Hi all —

I had a Marriott points card/number years ago. Maybe circa 1991-92. Haven’t stayed in a Marriott in years.

I also had (have?) an SPG number that I combined with Delta Skymiles for “Crossover Rewards” (I’d forgotten about that and just found the email from back in 2017).

Looks like Marriott combined with Starwood.

So I’m looking for the best way to maximize rewards under the following scenario:

I’m going to have to book a few rooms for a few people a few times a year for conferences for our business. I’ll be using my Chase Ink Business Plus Card, so I’ll get miles there.

I signed up for a Marriott Bonvoy number. Looks like I can combine SPG rewards with Marriott.

But am wondering if when I book these hotel rooms, can I give an airline number (I’ve got Lufthansa, American, and Air France — which Is what I principally use. Also occasionally use Delta and United).

Marriott seems to have a lot of partners.

Best way to maximize miles on the stay? Not a huge amount of travel compared to the rest of you, but it’d probably average out to about 2-3 rooms for 5-and 7 days about 4 times a year. So 40-60 nights a year of rooms, give or take.

Hey Sal, welcome.

I’m pretty sure that Marriott considers group bookings to be 10+ rooms at once. Otherwise, these will just be treated as individual bookings, in your situation. So, unless you are one of the folks actually staying in these rooms, you won’t be able to earn points yourself for the stay (your employees will).

I think OP can earn points for up to 3 rooms.
