Marriott Rewards/SPG Merger Already Having Problems?

    All,

    Received an email from Marriott yesterday (14 August 2018) that because I have both MR and SPG accounts, they are providing me a new Marriott Rewards number to protect against fraud/duplication. I was provided the new MR number and told to activate the new account that same day. My mobile app and my online access have reset and I’m [I]unable [/I]to access my account by logging in with any of the following combinations:

    – email & password
    – [I]old [/I]account number & password
    – [I]new [/I]account number & password

    And when I attempt to recover my password with the “Forgot Password” link, I’m told my information does not match the account information. I’m set to make Platinum after a current stay at a Marriott property that ends this Friday, so this has be understandably concerned.

    Has anyone else received this same email and had issues logging in? The merge isn’t supposed to happen until 18 August, so this is problematic as I’m afraid I’ll lost both points and status.

    I wouldn’t fret too much at this point, I can’t imagine the scope of the IT project this merger is undergoing.

    I would be sure to save a hard copy of your receipt from your stay this week, just in case you need some evidence in a few weeks.

    Best advice is probably just be patient – once things are back online after this weekend, I’d try again and see how things look.
