Conversion of IHG points to Mileage Plus miles

Conversion of IHG points to Mileage Plus miles

1. Kiosk New Member

Hi, Lucky! Throughout years I have accumulated millions of IHG points. Is it worthwhile to make use of the current promotion of 50% bonus miles on conversion of IHG® points to UA miles? My main consideration is for IHG points you do not get Elite benifits for a free night stay. So normally I would avoid redeeming IHG points for hotel stays. But UA miles can be redeemed without paying fuel charges. What do you think of my idea? Thanks for your answer!

Based on Ben’s valuations the conversion even with the bonus is a no-go.
But everyone’s redemption needs are different. I think this promo is worthwhile if you have to top off a UA account.
If you are sitting on a huge pile of IHG points and have no plans to redeem in the near future, I would part ways with a decent percentage of the pool.
Again, the promo may make sense for specific needs.

I agree with @PhatMiles – if you have millions of IHG points and no plans to redeem them for stays then this would be a better deal for you than for others.
