Your opinion of the best cc…
Hey Lucky,
I’m a beginner/novice when it comes to being savvy with the points game so I wanted to ask your opinion. Recently, I was kicking around the idea of opening a different main biz credit card but besides the enticing sign up bonus I couldn’t clearly see, over the long term, which would be better than what I’m doing now. Currently I use the AMX bonvoy biz card for most of the company spending(back in 2002 or so I opened it for the SPG points and haven’t looked back). Normally 100k-200k a year goes through it so the points really build and they get spent for vacations at Marriotts all the time so I’m definitely enjoying the benefits. Not trying to leave AMX or Marriott but if there was a card out there(even if it had a fee, perks come with fees, right?) where the point multiplier was much better I’d love to get your take on it. Any cards pop out to you? I appreciate your experience and feedback! Thanks, Joshua

Hey Joshua,
what is your business spend on? Some cards offer great value for certain categories. And some of the cards bonus spend in the top two categories each month (or quarter?).
I find the Amex Everyday Blue business card is great – 2X points for the first $50k in spend per year. No annual fee. I use it in conjunction with the Amex Biz Platinum Card – which offers 5X on airfare if bought through Amex. The Platinum biz card also gives a 33% rebate on points used to buy airfare – for your chosen airline. You can change the airline each January. (You also get a $200 credit for incidental costs – baggage fees, etc. for that airline.) The card has a hefty annual fee (but in addition to the airline credit has a $200 Dell credit). I keep it primarily for lounge access and the MR points back for buying airfare.
I also have a Chase business card which is good for travel (car rentals, trains – just about anything) but also telecom for instance. But Amex MRs are my primary transferable “currency”.

That’s good info regarding the AMX Platinum biz card. Thank you for the tip!
Most of my expenses are for home renovations. Home Depot, Lowes, flooring stores, cabinets, etc.
Then you might look into the Chase Ink card. While it would be a bit of a pain, you could use that card at office supply stores to buy Home Improvement gift cards, which are valid at home supply stores like Lowes & Home Depot. You’ll earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points on the first $50K in purchases and diversify your points as well. You’ll need a card with an annual fee to be able to transfer those points to airlines & hotels.
