Which Oneworld FFP is best for me?

Which Oneworld FFP is best for me?

1. Daniel Nguyen New Member

Hi guys!

Next week i will be on around 20 flights over 7 days due to business. And i would like to ask which Oneworld FFP is best for me as i am an AirNZ Gold Elite and very keen to get some status on Oneworld FFP.

My flights are as below

AKL-SYD QF Biz
SYD-BKK QF First (operated by EK with QF flight number)
BKK-HKG-ICN CX Biz
ICN-HKG-SGN-HKG-ICN CX Biz
ICN-HKG-SIN-HKG-ICN CX Biz
ICN-HKG-BKK CX Biz
BKK-HKG-BKK CX Biz
BKK-SYD QF First (operated by EK with QF flight number)
SYD-MEL QF Biz
MEL-AKL QF Biz

I’ve done some research and these flights would give me 1400+ status point with QF (if I’m not wrong) and i would qualify to Platinum Tier.

Is there any other Oneworld FFP that i should consider or post my points into in order to maximise the benefit and having Oneworld Emeralds Status.

Thanks heaps
Daniel

Whoa! That is quite the travel schedule. Do you have any goals for your personal travel? Where would you like to use your miles? Or, is your goal simply elite status?

Just to clarify, your primary goal is status, not the best plan for spending the miles, right? I recall examples where it cost a lot more miles on QF vs. another OW carrier so I’d compare to CX, JL and BA (and AA if you think you’d get 4 legs on AA metal – not sure about their spending requirements if you’re not US-based) and see which redemption chart works best for you.

@rickyw I’m quite new to the miles and FFP thing. I would like either to collect points that i can redeem in some great First and Biz products but Emeralds status of OW also get me to some of very nice F lounges around that I’m drooling to try as well. What you reckon? Providing these are all revenue ticket.

@MidSouthSkier I try to use the Point calculator on CX website and would you believe these flights not even get me to their Marco Polo Club Gold level (OW Shapphire) as i short of 5 points!!! Will definitely check out JL and BA but seem BA have 4 segment flights that i need to do.

Well, I didn’t quite calculate all your flights, but best guess you’d wind up with around 40,000 Qantas points. Assuming you are based in Auckland?

40,000 Qantas points seems to be able to get you one way to Asia up front.

Do you have other travel already planned? Agreed that Emerald status would be great, especially for access to Qantas lounges in Sydney and Melbourne.

@rickyw It will get be to around 49650 points plus what in my account i will be around 60K (just started my membership with QF when they said no to status match nor offer any challenge). So you think best i just post these flight into QF account?

For future travel i have not make any arrangements yet! I’m thinking of moving my flying to OW as it seem cheaper to maintain the status than AIRNZ Gold Elite.

If you already have the balance with Qantas… then yes, definitely credit to there! I think that will be your best.

you’ll get 53,000 points and 1560 status credits on QF
which you’ll get 3 status bonuses with at 50 sc each so you’d end up with 1710
id go with qantas they treat they’re platinums very well.
also there is the unspoken benefit of being able to open up award seats in J and F when using the platinum phone line. however this is unpublished and not a guarantee.

with platinum you can use the one world lounges, china easters lounges and the emirates lounges so you’ll have quite a lot of options

@freshthoughts Thank you!!! Really i can get that much SC as i use the calculator on QF website and it seems to be less.
