Where to credit CX – AA or AS?
Flying IAD-HKG-MEL RT in Class I which covers +25,000 miles flown. Currently AA Gold and AS MVP via status match but am torn on where to credit the miles. Planning a large RTW trip with my family starting June 2019 for 12 months. Have PP so I don’t value OW sapphire lounge access all that much.
Flight will net on AA:
38,230 EQMs, $6371 EQDs, and 42,054 redeemable miles (bottom line – I’ll be 12k EQMs short of Platinum/OW Sapphire)
Flight will net on AS:
70,089 redeemable miles (including 25,487 elite miles – enough for MVP) and ~62K for wife & kid.
I will likely have a small to moderate amount of domestic east coast travel this year (likely on AA).
Looking for advice on where to credit and the value of AS MVP. Thanks
I would say it depends on what miles you think you’ll want for your trip. 70k AS miles are much more useful than 42k AA miles, as a matter of principle, but if you are specifically hoping to redeem on Etihad or Qatar or something I can see a case for crediting to American.
