I’ve been looking at business class flights from west coast to Japan for the past two weeks for flights in the upcoming two weeks. Using Alaska site pulled up nothing on American from LAX to TYO. Using Qantas site listed nothing from LAX to TYO. While also on Qantas I put in SAN to TYO (because JAL flies that route) and wow all this married segment availability was listed: SAN-LAX-NRT, SAN-DFW-NRT, SAN-ORD-NRT. I went to AA and sure enough those flights showed up. I quickly put SAN-LAX-NRT on hold (wanted to leave from San Diego anyways). I kept watching because it wasn’t the ideal day. Availability stayed the same for a few days and then last Thursday, poof!, it all disappeared. Nothing for the next 30 days. Checked Friday, nothing. Checked Saturday, awards were back. Checked Sunday, and poof!, gone again and hasn’t returned. It’s as if the ‘additional’ married segment availability was pulled. LAX-TYO still not available, but anything else like CLE-DFW-NRT (which was available before) is also not available.
