What should I take for an ME3 crew?
Long time ago, I read an article published on ThePointsGuy about the lifestyle of crew members working for Middle Eastern Airlines. The author did not leave impressive track on the way they get treated. In the comments section I left a note that when I travel one of the ME3, I would take a small gift for the crew.
That said, I have a trip on EY coming up in J (Thanks to @Gaurav for helping me with finding J seats). What would be a recommendation to take for the crew? I don’t want to be flashy or expect good service in return. A token of appreciation should be felt. I have never done this before and asking for genuine suggestion.
Personally, I’d bring a box of chocolates or other snack-type item that can be shared.
I’ve taken little baggies of Hershey’s miniatures (I know, I know) on domestic flights and they’re a hit. Took some on an IAH-AMS flight on UA and you’d have thought I gave the flight crew $25 each. Big hit! (I was surprised) Have never taken any on foreign carriers though.
Here’s Lucky’s thoughts on crew presents, from a post last year: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2014/08/24/tip-crew/
I’ve never done this myself, curious how you folks handle it? Do you find the service manager after take off or just give it to crew in your area during boarding? Do you say something specific?
On a domestic flight I’ll usually just give it to the FA who’s standing near the boarding door – though if they’re busy with something else I’ll give it to the crew in my area. On the one int’l flight I gave it to the crew who was serving me. I made sure to take bigger bags on that as I knew there was more crew. And I always tell them it’s for all the crew.
Thank you very much for all the suggestions. I will take some shareable treats.
