Been with Chase for years but last week they froze my account due to some technicality and I realize I need a better solution, thinking of Capital One 360 and Charles Schwab Bank. What are your thoughts? Preferences?

Big fan of Schwab, they don’t charge ATM fees anywhere, including abroad. Which is about a good a benefit as you can ask for in a checking account, in my opinion. I’ve used them for years now. I don’t have experience with Capital One

Five years ago I switched from a big bank to a credit union in my area and I’ve been really happy with the change. Moved my business accounts there as well. Before you make the switch, stop by the smaller credit unions and/or savings and loans and see what they will offer. I’m not paying fees for anything. Sometimes your best deal is at the smaller institutions.

    +1 on credit unions.
