Using UA GPUs on LH

Using UA GPUs on LH

  1. SFFlier94112 New Member

Does anybody have a view on how easy it is to in fact use a UA GPU on LH on JV transatlantic flights and on what the upgrade rate is? GS reps claim all you have to do is buy the UA ticket and then apply the GPU through your account online, but I’ve seen a number of references on various sites to this being a very difficult process. From there, does anybody have any insight into how often LH actually gives the upgrade? Thanks!

@SFFlier94112 — Welcome! The process isn’t that hard, but you’ll want to be aware of whether or not upgrade inventory is available. If “I” class (the same bucket used for Saver award space) is open, the upgrade should clear.

I think most people who find the process difficult are just booking flights based on schedule or price, and then trying to upgrade, versus finding flights with available space and working backwards. Does that help?
