Using Marriott Rewards

Using Marriott Rewards

Just stayed in a big suite at the Ritz Carlton using my 4th night free on my Citi Prestige Card. I earned 80,000 Marriott Rewards Points from this stay. My primary airline is United. Am I better off using my points for hotel stays or upgrades or redeeming them for 27,000 United miles?

You earned 20,000 Marriott points per night?? That’s awesome. Was it a targeted promotion or something?

I think it depends on where you might be able to use the points. 80k Marriott points can be redeem for 1 night at a Tier 5 Ritz Carlton property (Tokyo is ~$590 a night) or 2 nights at a Category 9 (JW Marriott – Grosvenor House is over $1000) for 2 nights).

If you transferred to UA for points, 25k gets you round trip domestic flights in the US over 700 miles or a oneway domestic Business class flight. or 22500 points for a one way econ to Hawaii.

However, the best redemption might be when you have enough to redeem for Marriott’s Flights & Nights packages which start at 200,000 Marriott Points for 7 nights and 35k-55k miles, depending on the airline program.
