Using Etihad Miles for AA Flights
Hello,
I have a stash of CITI thank you points (thanks to my wedding) that I want to use this summer to get from east coast of US to Italy (one-way, going to use different currency for return). Knowing that you can use Etihad miles once converted from CITI to book American Airlines flights…my question is do all of the flights need to be on AA metal? For example, I am trying to get from CLT to NAP. I have found saver award availability from CLT-MAD in biz class, but obviously the connecting flight from MAD-NAP or MAD-FCO would be on Iberia metal….is that allowed? I guess a simpler way is can you use Etihad miles to book AA tickets on a combo of AA metal and one world partners? Worst case I can just buy a cheap ticket from MAD-NAP or FCO, but figured I’d ask to try and save money…as well as get clarification…because if it is possible to fly all one-world partners through this book, that opens up a lot more options!
Thanks!
Chris, you’ll only be able to use the miles on Etihad partners. Using a low cost carrier for the last leg would be a good idea.
