Upgrade using NH miles, credit flown miles to OZ?
Is it possible to use ANA miles (or any other programs transferable by Chase and Amex) to upgrade on a flight operated by EVA, and credit the EVA flown miles to Asiana?
I know for sure we cannot upgrade using EVA miles and credit flown miles to another program per EVA’s membership policy.
If ANA issued the ticket and there is Star Alliance upgrade availability then I think it’s possible but you would still earn miles based on your originally purchased fare class, not the upgraded ones.
ANA’s Star Alliance upgrade chart is distance based and is calculated per segment that you want to upgrade (unless the flight is on United) and can be found here http://www.ana.co.jp/wws/sg/e/asw_common/amc/reference/tukau/star_upgrade/usage.html
Furthermore, there are fare restrictions in that you had to have booked one of a few select fare classes to be eligible for the upgrade. In general, it requires booking into one of the few highest fare classes to be eligible. http://www.ana.co.jp/wws/sg/e/asw_common/amc/reference/tukau/star_upgrade/terms.html
Hi David,
Thank you for the help.
The ticket is issued by EVA, and flight is operated by EVA. I have miles in EVA, SQ, Chase, and AMEX. I want the flown miles to credit to Asiana. Any creative ways to upgrade with miles and credit to Asiana?
Only the airline that issued the ticket can process upgrades so in this instance you have to use EVA miles to upgrade, if there is space available.
Im not sure if you can search for space online but if you call EVA, they should be able to let you know if there is space, if youre eligible and and number of miles needed and if there are any other cash copays for it. At the departure gate you can ask the agent to update your frequent flyer number to the Asiana one to credit the miles. Just remember that you earn based on the originally ticketed fare class when you bought the ticket, not the upgraded one.
