Anyone know for sure on United offering Pajamas -772 SFO to LHR.

I assumed they would but i heard something about only on 12 hours or more and that route is certainly not 12 hours. Believe its listed as 10 hours. Probably closer to 9 of actual in air time.

I know on my return flight from London on BA First to LAX its customary to get pajamas.

Is this 12 hour rule on United really a thing meaning no pajamas ?

I had a flight from Frankfurt to SFO in Polaris that was blocked at 11 hours and 50 minutes. No pajamas were offered and when I inquired, they said that they didn’t stock any because the flight was (barely) shorter than 12 hours. So, don’t get your hopes up on the shorter SFO => LHR

Thats so lame. I guess this 12 hour thing i read somewhere is right. So basically you dont get pajamas on United to Europe. London, Paris, Germany all are going to fall under 12 hours. I guess AMS from LAX/SFO would be more than 12.

I said in another post the most ridiculous thing is AA Flagship not letting everyone into the dining room. I take that back, this pajama 12 hour rule is by far dumber

West Coast to Europe flights are generally only 10-11 hours.

I think the only UA flights over 12 hours are East Coast to Asia, LAX-SIN & South Pacific and Houston to Sydney

Thank you thats awesome. i will be requesting a mattress pad.

I still cant believe on AA and Delta on longer flights they dont have a freaking mattress pad. ya its Business class but when there is NO first class on that plane it should be treated like First class. I dont want to sleep right on the actual seat

AA does – just not on the route you happen to be flying. First world problems. I take a yoga mat when traveling internationally, and onboard I use it as a pad at times. Just as good as anything AA offers.

Yes i dont mean to sound like a snob. I know it the scheme of life and things this is absolutely nothing

But this is a first time and i am nearly sure ONLY time trip for me. Asia & Australia. I am putting all my points and miles into it and on the 5 long haul flights all in the most premium cabin it looks like i will get a mattress pad on 1 maybe 2 of the 5 and pajamas on 2 maybe 3 of the 5

The American doing a mattress pad and PJ’s to China but not Japan is so dumb. Even more dumb than United using a 12 hour rule. Total BS imo

Hey, I get it. Next year I am using AA miles to attend a conference in SIN and flying CX and JAL F both ways (well, J between SIN and NRT/HKG). I too want to experience a special trip… but don’t let a mattress pad ruin it for you. Lower your expectations and you’ll enjoy it more.

And AA only does mattress pads to HKG, not PEK and PVG (I think). I can only assume the financial beancounters have run the numbers and said HKG only…

Are you fying JAL from NRT to SIN ? i keep reading how HOT JAL keeps their planes and i am mildly worried about that now. I run on the hot side. Always better to keep it cooler its easier to make yourself warm. I also read again how their seat is LOW to the ground and it feels like you are on the floor (this is on the Sky Suite 3 on the reverse herringbone 777)

But yes def wont let a mattress pad get in the way of a great flight experience..

Yes, flying NRT to SIN. Never flown JAL; but I’ve never had a problem with temperature on CX or KX. On the flip side I’be been on unbearably warm red-eyes on AA. Yes, I know, “air nozzles”… don’t always help.

Never read anywhere else except here about being low to the floor on JAL or any other carrier. How low are you talking? Not a single mention came up (other than your other post :D) when doing a Google search. Again, why stress?

I cant find right the 2 other JAL reviews that both did mention how hot the cabin was. I know they are out there but cant find them now but it was 2 diff ppl on the heat issue

I know some times its just a hot ride and can happen on any airline but was just concerned a little..

if the image wont open sorry not sure why but if you open the link the pic is the one in that article maybe half way down where the reviewer starts talking about the bedding..

for a brand new seat the actual seat itself looks 15 years old

Seems lower than normal, yeah, but I’m not sure it’s a dealbreaker or worth fretting over.

Dude, you are psyching yourself out before even traveling. You’ve found one blogger say the seat is low to the floor (it does look to be). And? It is a business class seat. It lays flat. It is a 7 hour flight.

As for the heat – yes, it is a regular refrain (complaint?) about some Asian carriers. So why fly JAL for the trip of a lifetime if you are going to worry about it? And for people complaining – there isn’t an airline immune to complaints about trivial matters on FlyerTalk. Temp. Food. Seats. I get that you want this to be as great as possible – but how can you enjoy it if constantly fretting? And let’s not forget – it is still flying. F L Y I N G.

For the temp – do what [USER=1436]@rickyw[/USER] said in another thread – buy a USB fan. I loved the idea, and have already added one to my travel bag.

My guess is AA is trying to be more premium on their HKG routes so that they won’t be outshone by Cathay. To PVG/PEK they don’t have to worry about the Mainland Chinese carriers offering a better product.
