United First on 747-400 vs on 777-200, vs EVA Business on 777-300

United First on 747-400 vs on 777-200, vs EVA Business on 777-300

I have to fly one-way from Taiwan back to the U.S., and was considering using a premium cabin for my award ticket. On the day I need, there is award space for each of the following:

    – United First on B747-400
    – United First on B777-200
    – EVA Business on B777-300

First, I was wondering if there’s any difference between the first class products on United’s Boeing 747 and 777 planes. I can only find reviews of First Class on United’s B777-200 on this blog.

Also, I’ve read a bit about EVA Air’s Business class, and it seems like they have better Champagne/Amenities/Food. So I was considering them as well.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to pick for my first Premium Cabin flight?

I haven’t flown Eva business but I personally think united first is better than most people give it credit. Is it upstairs on the 747?

UA first is consistently inconsistent but, EVA is a 5 star airline so, it should be pretty good. I’d definitely take the 747 over the 777 if you chose UA because you are in the nose. I’d take EVA air

EVA Air is great, fantastic product. But I’m coming back from TPE in December as well and chose the UA747 in GF. Why?

UA first class on a 747 is in the nose of the plane. I’ve flown it many times. But there really isn’t a better airplane experience than sitting in the nose of a 747. The GF hard product is comfortable, it might not be as state of the art as EVA’s Cirrus business pod, but you have much more foot room and space overall. Also its more private. In December UA will have introduced Polaris for this flight and I want to experience that. While UA gets slammed on catering, EVA’s main dish wasn’t as good as a UA international flight on a 777 that I had this same trip. Having said that the EVA breakfast was incredible.

With EVA and United (assuming it’s after Dec 1) you will get PJ’s. Not sure about the champagne selections on UA.

Also I don’t like the flight times EVA runs. Into North America, they get in late in the evening (9PM) my city, and going to TPE they leave around midnight and get in at 4-5AM in TPE.

Last but not least the United 747 is going away in 2018. For that matter GF is going away. Polaris business looks nice, but it won’t have the room GF has.
