Anonymous GuestI booked a one-way award for two PHX – IAH – FRA – BEG using UA miles, in business class. PHX – IAH is UA metal, rest is on LH metal. If some F seats open up on the IAH – FRA segment in the two weeks before flight (they usually open 24-48 hours before flight), can i call and upgrade with fee + mile difference? i assume this will trigger a re-ticket. how risky is a re-ticket that close to the flight?

If LH F opens up, you shouldn’t have a problem changing that segment while retaining the other segments.
