Turkish Airlines situation

Turkish Airlines situation

  1. Antonio Sans New Member

    Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum so apologies if my question is repeated ( I checked and could not see a similar one ).

I am thinking of booking Turkish airlines from London to Tokyo with stopover in Istanbul in May 2021, however I am worried, due to the high amount of negative comments of their situation during the pandemic, and potential talks of the company going into bankruptcy.

Do you think it is safe for me to buy those tickets now, considering that there is still plenty of time until May next year? or do you think there a potential risk of them going bust at all in the meantime?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Antonio, it’s very hard if not impossible to predict what the situation will be like even a couple of months from now. However, Turkish is an enormous airline that is partly owned by the government so I would be fairly confident that they will still be around in some form or another. Of course this is pure supposition.

    Dear Clem,

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I thought that would be the case, but I read some comments about the government refusing to bail them out, so I got a bit worried.

Anyway, due to the fantastic offers in place I think I would take the risk.

Thanks for your comment in any case!
