Trip Interruption Credit Card Benefit

Trip Interruption Credit Card Benefit

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hi everyone – a quick question about the CC benefit of trip delay/interruption coverage. I have been delayed overnight due to either weather or mechanical problems with the flight. In the event of mechanical reasons the domestic airline will sometimes provide a contract hotel room. I find it can be some distance from the airport via hotel van. If I use my Citibank Prestige card with trip interruption coverage and the delay is over 6 hours, can I just see if a room is available at the on – airport hotel and avoid dealing with the overwrought airline staff? I see there is a provision in the coverage: “The coverage provided by this benefit is secondary. This means, if another source reimburses any of your expenses, we’ll cover only unreimbursed amounts.” Does this mean I have to take the airline’s offer or be denied coverage? Does anyone have experience in this setting? Thanks!
