Travelling with a non-functioning macbook pro in carry-on to USA

Travelling with a non-functioning macbook pro in carry-on to USA

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi,

I am travelling from Abu Dhabi to USA via transfer in Dusseldorf Germany. From Dusseldorf, I’ll be travelling on a code sharing flight (Etihad/AirBerlin).

My MacBook Pro stopped functioning properly few days ago. Can I take a not properly functioning macbook pro with me in a carry-on? After I check-in with airberlin in Dusseldorf, if the TSA security clearance requires me to power on my device, would I be allowed to go back to the AirBerlin check-in desk to check-in my hand carry baggage?

I am worried that TSA or someone my steal my macbook pro from a checked-in baggage.

Ella does it power up but not work properly or is it completely bricked and won’t turn on? If it powers on I think you should be okay taking it through security but I would check it to be on the safer side since you won’t have access to your check in baggage after you’ve dropped it off if there is an issue at the check point. I’m sure security agency theft does happen but it’s relatively rare. Is there any chance you can get it fixed in the UAE? I think there are a few authorized apple retailers.
