Transiting India on Seperate Tickets
Has anyone transited through India on Separate tickets? For example I am flying from Boston – Mumbai and from Mumbai to Kathmandu. The Boston-Mumbai was booked on one ticket and carrier and Mumbai to Kathmandu is booked on another.
Do I need to get a transit visa for this trip? Or will I be able to get my luggage and recheck it within the international terminal? The layover is about 8 hours.
@Aubrey–if you do not have to pass immigration you should be OK but if you have to change terminals or pass immigration for any reason you will need a visa unfortunately. Make sure to check with both carriers on transfer details. I would not take a chance at Mumbai. Nicely put – Mumbai is a very bad transit airport IMO
