Transiting in Aukland.

    Hi All!
Thinking about booking this itinerary between Fiji & Bali but the connection seems awfully tight to me.
Anyone with knowledge of transiting in AKL?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

PS. This blog has inspired and made possible many of my travels. Much thanks to my points guru Lucky and everyone who has joined the team.

I’ve never transited Auckland, only just arrived there before. But, that seems incredibly tight for an international connection. It doesn’t look like you’ll have to clear customs and immigration, but there is a security screening.

So, personally I wouldn’t be comfortable with that connection, but if the airline lets you book it, then they would protect you if you end up missing your flight

I wouldn’t risk it. Pacific airports I’ve been to are a little more relaxed than European or American ones, so you can’t be sure that Fiji Airways flight would depart on time. Auckland airport is not that busy or large by world standards (gates are not that far apart), but if “island time” affects your first flight, then you’ve no buffer.

    Thanks for the responses…
I was not comfortable with this itinerary either and decided against it.
Will do Fiji next time I’m out there.
