Transfer time LAX

Transfer time LAX

Hi there, I am currently planning a trip to west coast and wonder if anyone can give me advice in what transfer times to choose. One option for outbound is AA109 vom LHR to LAX where I would need to go through immigration (I don’t have global entry). Is 1:54h enough to get on a Compass Air flight to SAN? I guess if I miss that one, there are at least a few later to be rebooked.

I am more worried about the inbound:
AA5921 vom SFO to LAX and then 1:40h to get on AA136 to London, leaving 19:45. I guess I need switch terminals here. Has anyone catched this flight before?
Not sure what happens if I miss that flight – there is a BA A380 leaving 9 PM, does AA rebook to BA in such a case?

That should be plenty of time — you wouldn’t have to reclear security, you’d just be taking a short shuttle ride to/from the American Eagle terminal.

Worst case, American can rebook you on the BA flight (pending availability and all that).

Thanks for your reply – sounds reassuring but I heard to much bad of LAX. Does your reply applies to both out- and inbound?
One more question – I assume that for the whole iternary on AA the luggage would be checked through – is AA allowing to short-check luggage when I have an overnight in London? It’s a 50:50 chance if a take that last leg after London in Europe or go to another, separate flight. Is AA known to be difficult with that?

Yep, you should be fine unless the lines at immigration are horrific.

You might be able to short-check the bag with an overnight, will depend on the agent. Keep in mind if you voluntarily miss any segments on your itinerary the subsequent segments will be canceled.

Thanks. It’s the last leg of the whole trip and there is a 22 hours transfer (next day afternoon), so I hope it won’t be a big deal. In any case I would need my luggage for hotel stay over night..?!

@Samoa I would keep your layover necessities in your carry-on baggage just to be on the safe side.
