Toronto to Hong Kong CX Business Class

Toronto to Hong Kong CX Business Class

  1. gliu25 New Member

    Hello Everyone,

My parents are traveling from Toronto to Hong Kong this coming November for their anniversary. I wanted to treat them to business class for their flight since they have never flown business before. I have a little over 200,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles, which should be enough for a round trip Toronto to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific. However, when I use the BA Avios award search, there is absolutely no availability within 2 weeks of their departure date (which can be flexible).

Does anyone have any recommendations? I never thought award space would be so scarce in business class on this route.

Any feedback/help would be greatly appreciated.

    Warm Regards

CX has reduced business class availability, but – at least for myself with Asia Miles – I have always gotten lucky with waitlisting. Booking 4 months out for me means at least one confirmed flight 3 months out. This often even works on shorter intervals (am flying to FRA in July – waitlisted on June 3rd, was confirmed last week).
Might be a problem with Alaska though. On Asiamiles I find outright availability for 2*U for either 7-22nd, 12-22nd or 13th-22nd. Hope that helps.

Oops – my bad. These are routed via LHR. So YYZ-LHR on BA and then LHR-HKG on CX. I’d still vastly prefer this over 15h in Y, though 🙂
