To use SPG points, TY Points or Cash…..

To use SPG points, TY Points or Cash…..

We are going to Salzburg this fall and have decided on staying at the Hotel Goldener Hirsch. Looking at rates SPG is offering the room for 20,000 points a night or 10,000 + $180. I can book a cash stay for $240 a night so it’s only 1.2 cpp for a SPG point or 0.6 cpp for C+P (yuck). I booked a refundable cash rate but I’d rather not shell out the $700+ for 3 nights. We have a stash of Thank You points from my Premiere card and I can redeem those at 1.25 cpp (paying a little more than the discounted rate from SPG site) which would cost us 24,000 points a night. I’m really close to booking it with Thank You but has anyone used points for hotel stays before?
